Aya Guesthouse has been entirely build by the hands of its owner Farimang Manneh. A Gambian national that has lived and traveled in Europe but feels Gambia is his true home. Aya Guesthouse started with just a piece of land close to the sea 10 years ago. Now there are two buildings, which together hold 8 cosy apartments, there is a swimming pool, a parking area to safely park your car and a beautiful garden with roses, mango trees, avocado trees and banana trees.

Up to 2017 the name of our guesthouse was Bamboo Guesthouse. But because a lot of hotels started to use the same name, so we wanted to change our name. We decided to name it Aya Guesthouse, because Aya means ‘Home’ in Mandinka (a traditional African language). Our staff truly hopes that we can make you feel at home.

Aya Guesthouse also has a very sweet dog that was rescued from the street. She now lives in the compound and her name is ‘Hope’.
